Why is the Oscars Important?

The Oscars is socially relevant. Out of its glamour, the Oscars have become one of the mediums for increasingly energized conversations about racism, sexism, immigration, and others. Indeed, the stories we choose to tell, and then honor, reveal more about who we are. The Oscar nominees and winners make a statement about the films, but also on who we are now, and who we want to become.
